These ornery ostriches have been ostracized from the party and they are not too happy about it!
On another note...
Ya know the guys who stand on the island at intersections and have a cardboard sign that says, "Will eat for money" or "Down and out, have a nice day?" We all see them, especially here in southern California and most of the time we all go about our day and just ignore them. At least I do because I usually don't have much cash on me or I am in a hurry and I'm racing to make the light or the dark side of me thinks that if I give them my money they'll just go and buy a bottle of booze. Well today, my sister and I were feeling generous when we spotted a disabled vet who was looking pretty down and out. We handed him a few bucks as he made the long saunter down the island towards our car. He perked up quickly and started talking about the "big" game and asked if we were going. Huh? Oh yeah, the Charger game. As if. We were on our way to Whole Foods for some raw pad thai and brown rice sushi. NOT a football game. He didn't appreciate that very much but seemed quite pleased with the extra dollars. As we drove away, we joked that he was saving up tonight's stash for a beer at the pub to watch that game. Why didn't we go away from there feeling like we were helping out a down and out soul? Why did we feel like that was money wasted? I hope it wasn't but you never know. Am I just another hardened soul or is it really not that helpful to hand out cash to the ones that market themselves on street corners? I am just curious. How about you?
Monday's Gratitude:
I am so grateful for a lovely first day of Fall!

That's a tough one.. I think we are supposed to give without expecting........well, anything~
Love the O image. So cute and colorful! I'm like you, I don't delve out change that easily, for similar reason...yet when we do, we need to "let go" and believe that person is happy with the generous offering and it's their money to do as they please... thanks for sharing!
I have a hard time with giving hand outs too. I always feel guilty not giving them something (if I have it) but then feel guilty when I do. Sometimes I just do it....once when we were in DC #1 ran back to put his change in a homeless mans cup and he was so proud of himself. I guess we could learn from our children! :)
